Lima, Much More Than a Stopover

Almost all international trips to Peru arrive through Lima, and it is worth staying a few days. The capital combines a colonial historic center, seaside neighborhoods such as Miraflores and Barranco, pre-Hispanic sites within the city such as Huaca Pucllana and one of the most renowned food scenes in South America. Our packages include airport transfers, hotel with breakfast, a bilingual guide in Spanish and English, and tickets to the attractions in the program.

What to Do in Lima Based on Your Days

With two or three days you can see the historic center, Miraflores and a food experience. If you have four, add a night of shows or a calmer day by the sea. With five days you can already head out to the southern coast, where the landscape changes completely: desert, marine wildlife at the Ballestas and the Nazca figures.

When to Travel to Lima

Lima has a mild climate and almost no rain. From December to April it is summer, with sun and warm temperatures. From June to September the sky is usually cloudy and it is humid, though without intense cold. You can visit all year round; the southern coast has sun most of the year.

Combine Lima with Cusco

Lima is at sea level, so it is a good place to rest from the flight before going up to Cusco. If you want to add Machu Picchu, look at the Photo Adventure in Lima and Cusco or our multi-day tours of Peru. We can also add nights in Lima to any Cusco package.

A practical tip: many international flights arrive at night or in the early morning. If that is your case, leave the first day in Lima without demanding activities and start the visits the next day. Tell us your dates and flight times and we will send you a proposal that fits them.
