Cusco, at about 3,400 m above sea level, was the capital of the Tahuantinsuyo and today is the base for visiting Machu Picchu, the Sacred Valley and the high-mountain landscapes of the region. Almost all the trips in this section begin with your arrival at the Cusco airport, a transfer to the hotel and an easy first day to acclimatize, usually with the city tour of Cusco and the four nearby ruins.
If you prefer private service, the Cusco Premium package includes private transportation throughout the trip.
Enough for Cusco and Machu Picchu by train. Options such as Cusco and Machu Picchu Short Trip or Multicolor Cusco, which adds Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca).

If you arrive through Lima, there are 7-day routes that combine both cities, with a food or photography focus.
In addition to the packages by train, this category includes hikes of 2 to 6 days: the Short Inca Trail, the Classic Inca Trail and its 6-day version with nights in Cusco, the Salkantay Trek (also in a 2-day version with glamping), the Lares Trek and the 2-day route through Ausangate and Rainbow Mountain. They are demanding because of the altitude; we tell you honestly the level of each one before you book.
From May to October is the dry season: sunny days, cold nights and the highest demand of the year. From November to April there is more rain, mostly in the afternoons, and fewer visitors. At any time of year, bring layered clothing, sunscreen and something waterproof.
Altitude is the factor that most affects how you feel. Drink water, eat light on the first day and leave the excursions above 4,000 m, such as Vinicunca or Humantay, for the end.
In general they include airport transfers, hotel nights with breakfast, a bilingual guide (Spanish and English), tourist tickets and the train to Machu Picchu when the program includes it.
