Cusco – Challacancha – Humantay Lake
We pick you up at your hotel at 4:30 a.m. and travel about 2 and a half hours to Mollepata, where we stop for breakfast. We continue by vehicle to Challacancha, where the cook and the horseman prepare the camp and kitchen equipment, and you start walking.
The first 25 minutes are uphill to Canal de Agua, a lookout with views of the Humantay and Salkantay (6,271 m) snow-capped peaks. From there you walk to Soraypampa (3,800 m), the highest and coldest camp of the trip. After lunch you climb to Humantay Lake, explore the area, and walk back down to Soraypampa to sleep in a Sky Lodge glamping dome. It is about 15 km and 7 to 8 hours of walking.
Overnight: Soraypampa
