Arequipa – Colca Canyon – Arequipa
We pick you up at your hotel in Arequipa between 2:45 and 3:20 a.m. and travel by tourist transport through the Andes under the stars. At sunrise you reach Chivay and have breakfast with local products. You continue to the Cruz del Cóndor, with stops in the villages of Yanque and Maca and their colonial churches. At the Cruz del Cóndor you see the depth of the canyon and the flight of the Andean condor, with time for photos.
On the way back to Chivay you stop at the Wayrapunko and Antahuilque viewpoints, with pre-Inca agricultural terraces and the start of the canyon. If you wish, you can relax in the La Calera hot springs in Yanque. You have lunch in Chivay and return to Arequipa with stops at the Mirador de los Volcanes (4,910 m) and the Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve, where you see vicuñas. You arrive around 5:00 p.m.
