Historic Center and Arequipa Viewpoints
Starting at 9:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m., you begin at the Santa Catalina Monastery, a religious city founded in 1579 that fills an entire city block. For about 45 minutes you walk through its inner streets, cloisters and cells while your guide shares the life of the cloistered nuns. Next is the Plaza de Armas, with the Cathedral and its sillar arches, and a few steps away you visit the Church and Cloisters of the Company of Jesus, whose dome of San Ignacio is decorated with murals of tropical flora and fauna.
You continue through San Lázaro, the oldest neighborhood in the city, and climb to the Yanahuara Viewpoint, with its sillar arches and views of the Misti, Chachani and Picchu Picchu volcanoes. Depending on the route, you finish at the Carmen Alto Viewpoint (2,400 m), overlooking the Chilina Valley and the Chili River. The tour ends with your return to your hotel.
