Arequipa Countryside and Viewpoints
We pick you up at your hotel in Arequipa at 9:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m. and take you to the Carmen Alto Viewpoint in Cayma, overlooking the Chilina Valley, the Chili River winding through farmland, and the Misti, Chachani, and Pichu Pichu volcanoes. Continue to Yanahuara, with its sillar-arch viewpoint and its 18th-century mestizo baroque church, and cross the Puente Fierro, designed by Gustave Eiffel, to the Sachaca Viewpoint, the highest point in the city.
You visit the Founder's Mansion, a colonial house that belonged to the son of Arequipa's founder and served as headquarters during the war with Chile. In Sabandía you see its 18th-century water mill and the traditional grinding of grain. You pass the pre-Inca terraces of Paucarpata and return to the city center.
