Puerto Maldonado – Rainforest Lodge
We welcome you at the Puerto Maldonado airport or bus terminal and take you to our office for check-in; there you can leave any luggage you do not need. If there is time, we pass by the main square and the Plaza Grau lookout, with a view of where the Madre de Dios and Tambopata rivers meet. From Puerto Capitanía you travel 40 minutes up the Madre de Dios River to the lodge, where they greet you with a local fruit juice.
You walk through the forest to the canopy bridge, where you can see birds and the landscape above the trees. Wearing safety gear, you ride a 190-meter zipline, cross a 75-meter bridge, and return on a 160-meter zipline. After lunch you can rest in the hammocks.
In the afternoon you go by boat and then by kayak, always with a support boat, to Monkey Island, where a group of monkeys accustomed to people lets you observe them up close; you can also swim in the river. You watch the sunset from the hammocks facing the island, and at night you go out by boat with a spotlight looking for caimans, nocturnal birds, and capybaras. Dinner and rest at the lodge.
Overnight: Rainforest lodge
