Palccoyo, Colored Mountains
We pick you up at your hotel very early and you travel south of Cusco on the road to Puno. After about 2 hours you reach the town of Cusipata, where you stop for breakfast. Then you continue to Combapata and take a turnoff onto an unpaved road along the Salka River. For about 1.5 hours you see Andean communities and large herds of alpacas and llamas.
After about 10 minutes of preparation, you walk at an easy pace for 30 to 40 minutes to the main lookout. From there you have a 360-degree view of the three colored mountains, the Red River (seasonal) and the Ausangate glacier. You have lunch and head back to Cusco, arriving around 6:00 p.m.
